Gloucester County · South Jersey
Weekly and every-other-week dog poop pickup in Williamstown, Monroe Township, Gloucester County. One flat monthly rate and a scooper who texts on the way.

Your Williamstown pooper scooper
Williamstown is the heart of Monroe Township in Gloucester County, a former glass town of about 15,000 people at the northern edge of the Pinelands. (Not to be confused with Monroe Township in Middlesex County.) It's on our South Jersey routes, a short drive from Pitman, Glassboro and Washington Township.
Monroe's code is unusually specific about dog waste: pet waste has to be double-bagged before it goes in the trash, and for dogs kept outdoors it has to be removed within 24 hours. We double-bag every pile as a matter of course. On your route day, your scooper texts on the way, walks the whole yard, bags everything into your trash can and latches the gate.

Good neighbors
Owners must immediately dispose of their pet's waste on any property they don't own, and proper disposal means double-bagged before it goes in a trash container (Code §287-2 and §287-3). Penalties run up to $1,000.
Wherever dogs are kept outdoors, their waste must be removed daily, within 24 hours (Code §280-7A(4)).
On streets and in public places, a dog must be leashed and with someone over age 10 (Code §280-8B).
$10 for an altered dog, $13 otherwise, with a $5 late fee after April 1. Gloucester County parks, including Scotland Run, don't allow pets.
Williamstown sits at the top of the Great Egg Harbor River, a National Wild and Scenic River since 1992. The Squankum Branch, which the U.S. Geological Survey monitors right at Williamstown, is part of that protected system, and Monroe is one of only two Gloucester County towns inside the state's Pinelands Area, above an aquifer estimated at more than 17 trillion gallons. Keeping yards clean here protects water that's special even by New Jersey standards.

A little local history
The first settlement was called Squankum, which the township says meant "Place of Evil Ghosts." The ghosts may well have been mosquitoes.
With a post office coming and the name Squankum already taken, the town becomes Williamstown, after Israel Williams and his son John, who divided the land into lots and farms.
Monroe Township is formed from part of Washington Township and named for President James Monroe. It moves to Gloucester County in 1871.
The Hall Street School is built. It's on the National Register of Historic Places today.
The Williamstown glassworks, part of local glassmaking since at least 1837, closes after decades as the town's industry.

We work through most weather, including light rain. If severe weather, snow, flooding or lightning makes it unsafe, your visit may be skipped. Because the next cleanup usually takes much longer, your regular rate still applies. If you clean the yard yourself before we're back, let us know and we'll gladly credit that visit.
We securely double-bag it and place it in your trash can, so it leaves with your regular garbage pickup.
