Your Washington Township pooper scooper
New Jersey has several Washington Townships. This page is about the one in Gloucester County: Sewell, Turnersville, Grenloch and Hurffville, the township of about 48,000 people along Route 42 and Route 47. It borders Pitman, where Big Business Scoopers keeps its mailing address, so it sits at the heart of our South Jersey routes.
Gloucester County keeps dogs out of its county parks entirely, and the township keeps them out of the main part of Washington Lake Park, so for a lot of Washington Township dogs the backyard does the heavy lifting. Your scooper texts on the way, walks the whole yard, double-bags every pile into your trash can and latches the gate. It's one flat monthly rate, with no contract.
Out and about
Parks, trails and dog runs in and around town, from the town's and county's own pages.
353 Chapel Heights Road, Sewell
The township's fenced off-leash park, open daily. Registration is required ($10 for residents, $20 for non-residents) with proof of a dog license, and dogs stay leashed on the paths.
Grenloch Lake, Grenloch
A leashed dog area by the lake, open 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Dogs must be leashed, licensed and vaccinated.
2401 High Hill Road, Logan Township
A 2.5-acre county dog park with two fenced sections, a water fountain, gazebos and waste stations.
Good neighbors
The township's pet waste rule sits in its stormwater chapter (Code §213-19), and since April 2025 violations can cost up to $1,000.
Walkers must immediately remove waste from streets, sidewalks, parks and other people's property, and tenants in multi-unit complexes must use the complex's designated dog-walking areas (Code §19-7H).
In public, a dog must be with someone over age 12 and securely controlled, on a leash of 8 feet or less.
Licenses are $10 for spayed or neutered dogs and $15 otherwise ($5 off for residents 62 and older, free for dogs adopted from the county shelter). Gloucester County parks don't allow pets at all.
Big Timber Creek starts right here, in Washington and Winslow townships, and runs through 28 communities to the Delaware River at West Deptford and Gloucester City. The state once named it one of New Jersey's most polluted waters, and while it's cleaner today, development still puts pressure on it. Add Cedar Lake and Grenloch Lake, and there's a lot of water downhill from Washington Township's yards. Weekly pickup keeps the waste out of it.

No. As long as we have safe access to your yard, you don't need to be home while we clean up.
We work through most weather, including light rain. If severe weather, snow, flooding or lightning makes it unsafe, your visit may be skipped. Because the next cleanup usually takes much longer, your regular rate still applies. If you clean the yard yourself before we're back, let us know and we'll gladly credit that visit.
We securely double-bag it and place it in your trash can, so it leaves with your regular garbage pickup.
