Monmouth County · Jersey Shore
Weekly and every-other-week dog poop pickup in Holmdel, our newest Jersey Shore territory. Big yards, one flat monthly rate, no contracts.

Your Holmdel pooper scooper
Holmdel is where Big Business Scoopers' third territory begins. After two decades of routes in North and South Jersey, we've added the Jersey Shore, starting with Holmdel and its Monmouth County neighbors: Colts Neck, Middletown, Red Bank and Tinton Falls.
Holmdel yards tend to be big, from the farm-country lots off Longstreet Road to the neighborhoods near Crawfords Corner, and that's where a weekly scoop earns its keep. Your scooper texts on the way, walks the whole property, double-bags every pile into your trash can and latches the gate behind them. Bigger-than-average properties are quoted to the yard, so you pay for what your yard needs.
Getting in early on a new route has a perk, too: there's room on the schedule.
Out and about
Parks, trails and dog runs in and around town, from the town's and county's own pages.
Bayonet Farm, 41 Middletown Road
Two fenced areas (30 pounds and under on the small side), open 7 a.m. to dusk. Dogs must be licensed and vaccinated, and dogs over 6 months spayed or neutered. Two dogs per person.
44 Longstreet Road
A 719-acre county park with about 10 miles of trails, including a half-mile paved loop. Leashed dogs are welcome on the trails, but not at Historic Longstreet Farm, in the arboretum or in the water.
Thompson Park, Lincroft
A 1.5-acre county off-leash area nearby, with a big-dog side and a small-dog side. Open 6 a.m. to dusk (9 a.m. on Thursdays).
Good neighbors
Holmdel requires owners to immediately and properly dispose of their pet's waste on public property or anyone else's (Code §30-156.5). Penalties run up to $2,000, and any resident can file a complaint in Municipal Court.
Off your own property, a dog must be on a leash no longer than 6 feet, with someone able to control it. Dogs may run free only inside the dog park.
$18 for a spayed or neutered dog, $21 otherwise, expiring at the end of January, with a $5 late fee plus $5 for each extra month unlicensed.
In Monmouth County parks, dogs must be leashed and stay out of gardens, historic sites, beaches and buildings. No swimming.
Holmdel drains to the Navesink River through Ramanessin Brook, a 5-mile tributary that runs through the township. The state has suspended shellfish harvesting in 566 acres of the Navesink over elevated fecal coliform, and in 2016 a state environmental official put it bluntly: dog waste carries an estimated 23 million fecal coliform per gram, and getting owners to scoop could go a long way. Holmdel has already put in the work on runoff, with rain gardens and basins at Village Elementary, Holmdel High School and Holmdel Park. A scooped yard is the easy part.

A little local history
Land titles for what is now Bayonet Farm trace back to a patent from this year. The township bought the farm in 1985, and it's home to the dog park today.
Holmdel is formed from part of Raritan Township (now Hazlet). The name may honor the Holmes family, or come from Dutch words for a pleasant valley.
Eero Saarinen's Bell Labs complex is finished. Bell Labs leaves in 2007, and the building has been reborn as Bell Works since 2013.
Using the Holmdel Horn Antenna on Crawford Hill, the highest point in Monmouth County, Arno Penzias and Robert Wilson detect the afterglow of the Big Bang, work that wins the 1978 Nobel Prize.
The New Jersey Vietnam Veterans' Memorial is dedicated on Memorial Lane, followed by the Vietnam Era Museum in 1998.

We scoop in 140+ towns across Essex, Morris, Union, Passaic, Somerset and Middlesex Counties in North Jersey, Monmouth County at the Shore, and Gloucester, Camden, Burlington, Atlantic and Salem Counties in South Jersey. Our routes keep growing, so if you're nearby and don't see your town listed, ask. We'll tell you straight whether we can fit you in.
No. As long as we have safe access to your yard, you don't need to be home while we clean up.
We work through most weather, including light rain. If severe weather, snow, flooding or lightning makes it unsafe, your visit may be skipped. Because the next cleanup usually takes much longer, your regular rate still applies. If you clean the yard yourself before we're back, let us know and we'll gladly credit that visit.
We securely double-bag it and place it in your trash can, so it leaves with your regular garbage pickup.
